Uniform
Students
are expected to be dressed according to the uniform policy
every day except on designated out-of-uniform days. Parental
cooperation is necessary to be sure that items of clothing
that are purchased for school are in compliance with the policy.
Girls
(grades 1-5)
· Plaid jumper or plain navy pants that start at
the waist with side and back pockets and have minimal to
no flare
· White long or short sleeve blouse with a rounded
collar or white long or short sleeve knit polo shirt
· White above the ankle socks or white or navy tights
· Shoes with flat heels that are not gym shoes, boots,
sandals, or backless
· Navy sweater (long sleeve cardigan) may be worn.
Girls
(grades 6-8)
· Plaid skort worn no shorter than 3" above
the knee or plain navy pants that start at the waist with
side and back pockets and have minimal to no flare
· White long or short sleeve oxford blouse or white
long or short sleeve knit polo shirt
· White above the ankle socks or white or navy tights
· Shoes with flat heels that are not gym shoes, boots,
sandals, or backless
· Long sleeve navy pullover sweater may be worn.
Boys
(grades 1-8)
· White long or short sleeve oxford shirt or white
long or short sleeve knit polo shirt
· Navy cotton or cotton blend Docker-type pants (no
denim, carpenter, or jean pants)
· Navy (with slacks) or white crew socks
· Shoes that are not gym shoes, boots, sandals, or
hiking shoes.
· Long sleeve navy cardigan or pullover sweater may
be worn.
Girls
in Kindergarten
-Navy pants that start at the waist with side and back pockets
and have minimal or no flare
-Navy arrow drop-waist scooter, sash scooter, or button scooter
(purchased ONLY at Kohls)
-White long or short sleeve blouse with rounded collar or
white long or short sleeve knit shirt
-White above the ankle socks or white or navy tights
-Gym shoes with laces (not Velcro)
-Long sleeve navy cardigan may be worn.
Boys
in Kindergarten
Same as for boys in grades 1-8, except gym shoes with laces
(not Velcro) in place of shoes
Warm-Weather
Option for students in K-8:
All students may wear navy shorts, white socks without a logo, and
gym shoes during the months of August, September, May, and June.
Girls in K-5 may wear the navy arrow drop-waist scooter, sash scooter,
or the button scooter (purchased ONLY at Kohls).
Art
class:
Students are expected to wear a shirt or a smock to Art class.
P.E.
class:
Grades 1-5: St. Mary gold shorts and St. Mary royal blue t-shirt,
white above the ankle socks, gym shoes.
Grades 6-8: Navy/gold reversible shirt and navy shorts, white
above the ankle socks, gym shoes. (Students may continue to
wear and purchase, while supplies last, the gold shorts and
royal blue t-shirts.)
P.E. clothes
and shoes should be carried to the gym in a P.E. bag, preferably
a mesh laundry-type bag which can be purchased in the office.
Gym clothes and shoes must be clean, in good order, and fit
properly. Shoes should be put on before gym class, not worn
to school. There is no exchanging of gym shoes or clothing
between students. Students in grades 2-8 use the locker rooms
to change for P.E. classes; starting in May, students in grade
1 change in the locker rooms.
General

-Arrow Drop-Waist
Scooter, Sash Scooter, or Button Scooter for K girls or girls in
gr. 1-5 as warm-weather option is to be purchased at Kohl's store
or on line at www.kohls.com.

Label all school and gym uniforms with the child's name.
·
Make-up is not allowed.
·
Girls may wear one earring in each ear. Boys are not allowed
to wear earrings. Jewelry should be simple and must be removed
for gym class. Misplaced/lost items are not the responsibility
of the school or staff.

Boys' and girls' haircuts should be simple and school-appropriate.
Boys' hair should not reach top of shirt collar. No fad hair
cuts or no colored, highlighted, or bleached hair. Students
will be asked to return hair to natural color.
·
Anyone wearing accessories or having hair that the school
feels is unacceptable will be told to make the necessary changes.
. Blouses
and shirts must be tucked into the skirt or pants at all times.
.Aerosal
sprays of any kind are not allowed in the school.
.Backbacks
with wheels and handles are strongly discouraged. They present
a safety hazard to all students in the hallways and on the
stairs.
.Purchase
of Spiritwear clothing is strongly encouraged. Items may not
be worn during the school day except on designated out-of-uniform
days.
Out
of Uniform Days
Out-of-uniform days will be announced. If it is a "casual"
day, blue jeans, gym shoes, and a shirt with a color appropriate
to the day's event is to be worn. Wearing Spiritwear clothing
is encouraged on these days.Clothing that advertises drugs,
etc. as well as tight or torn clothing are not allowed. All
clothing must be modest and school-appropriate. A student
may elect to wear his/her uniform on these days. Students
may not be out-of-uniform on days we attend Mass.
Spiritwear
Wearing
of Spiritwear clothing is a way of showing our school pride
and increasing our school's profile in our local community.
Students are strongly encouraged to wear their Spiritwear
at all sports events. Items can be bought in Aug. and before
Christmas.
