Sacraments
The Religious
Education Office of the parish coordinates the preparation
program for all the sacraments. In each program, parents are
recognized as the primary educators. Parents attend preparation
meetings and work at home with their child. This cooperative
effort results in a spiritually rewarding experience.
Reconciliation
Students in grade two prepare for their First Reconciliation.
See School Calendar for dates that pertain to this
sacrament. Since the sacrament of Reconciliation is an important
means of deepening a Christian's response to God and neighbor,
students, after their First Reconciliation, are encouraged
to avail themselves of this sacrament on Saturdays and other
occasions. Several times during the school year students in
grades 3-8 receive the sacrament.
Communion
Students in grade two also prepare for their First Communion.
See School Calendar for dates of parent/child meetings,
practices, and celebrations of this sacrament. Reception of
the Eucharist at Mass is an important means of growth in the
Christian Life. After their First Communion, students are
encouraged to receive the Eucharist at all Masses that they
attend.
Confirmation
Students in seventh and eighth grades prepare for this sacrament
which begins with the Orientation in seventh grade and culminates
with the reception of the sacrament in eighth grade. Our priests
help in their preparation by teaching some of the classes.
See School Calendar for dates of parent/child meetings,
the retreat, practice, and the celebration of this sacrament.
