Fundraising

BOOSTER CLUB

Provide discretionary financial support for the current and future needs of St. Mary of Gostyn School to promote sports and extra-curricular development by contributing additional resources to the athletic department and volunteers dedicated to this task, while promoting a sense of community through sponsored events and various fund raising initiatives. Contact Barry Ketchmark for more information. Funds and updates can be tracked from the website: www.theboosterclub.org

5 K RACE/WALK

Sept. 1st marked the date of our first 5K Run/Walk at McCollum Park on a USATF certified route. In addition to the run/walk, there was a 1 mile Youth Race for all participants 16 yrs. and younger. Contact Tom Andrasek for information on the 2008 Race.

CANDLELIGHT BOWLING

The School Advisory Body will be hosting the third annual Bowling Outing in 2008. More information later in the year. Contact the school if you are interested in helping with this project.

MANNA

What is MANNA?

MANNA is a program designed to offer its participants a tuition reduction while at the same time raising funds for our school. To participate in the program, you purchase certificates through school and use them at local grocery and department stores as well as gas stations, restaurants, and specialty stores. Contact Eileen Rogers for more information.

Who can use MANNA?

Anyone who shops can use the program. School families, parish families, teachers, staff, friends and neighbors can purchase certificates through the school. Program participants who do not attend the school can have their purchases credited to school families, teachers, or leave the profit to the school.

Why should I order MANNA?

All school families should use the program as a way to offset the cost of school tuition. A tuition credit is applied to the March tuition statement. Additionally, the program generates profit for the school. Some families chose to donate their profit to the school, to other families, or to the teachers for school-related expenses.

How do I order MANNA?

To PRE-ORDER:

Order forms are sent home each week for the month of September in the School Envelope. After September, forms are sent out twice monthly to the entire school. Those placing a MANNA order receive a new order form with each filled order. Simply fill in the order form, enclose a check for the amount ordered in an envelope marked MANNA, and send the envelope to the school office.

Orders are due to the school office or Rectory by Monday at 8 a.m. Order forms are processed on Monday morning and distributed on Tuesday afternoon. You can opt to have your order sent home with your child in the Tuesday envelope or picked up after Tuesday afternoon in the school office or Rectory.

How do I get started?

Fill out a Registration Form and return it with your first order. (A Registration Form and an Order Form are found in School Forms.)
If you have questions, call the school at 630/968-6155.

How does the program work?

Here is an example:
If you purchase $100 in grocery certificates once a week from September through May, here's how you will profit.
$100 x 35 weeks = $3500
discount/profit x .05
total profit = $175
50% of profit to you = $87.50
This $87.50 will be applied as a MANNA tuition credit on your tuition statements in March.

Remember that bigger purchases mean bigger credits!!!

ANNUAL APPEAL

We will conduct our third Annual Appeal to support the St. Mary of Gostyn School Endowment Fund. The Endowment Dinner Dance had been the sole support of the Endowment Fund; now with the Annual Appeal we have another means to help grow the fund and responsibly plan for the long-term future of our parish school. We are striving to reach a target of $1,000,000 before the school begins to use the interest. If we were to continue to rely on the Endowment Dinner Dance alone, we would hope to reach that goal first in 2008. If our Annual Appeal is successful, we can shorten that time frame and see the benefits sooner. Thank you if you can support this special effort. Please contact the Rectory or the school for more information.

MARKET DAY

In the past, the profit from Market Day was used to help balance the school budget. While we want to make the food available to our parents and parishioners and keep the community-building spirit of this program, we will use the profit from the sales for tuition grants for the St. Mary school families. Thank you for your support of the Market Day Program. Contact Jean Pesci for more information.

The Sale Dates are the following Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the gym:
Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 13, Dec. 18, Jan. 29, Feb. 26, Apr. 1, Apr. 29, May 27.

As always, you can go to the Market Day Store at 1250 N. Mittel Blvd. in Wood Dale. Our school number is 1897. Credit cards are accepted.

Directions to the store: I-355 north, exit on Thorndale (exit #5), turn right, 4 stoplights to Mittel, turn left, store on the left.

ENDOWMENT FUND

Each year, St. Mary of Gostyn School holds an Endowment Dinner Dance Fundraiser. The monies are accumulated in an account annually. Once our $1,000,000 goal is reached, the interest from the fund will be used to help offset the costs of running the school. The Dinner Dance typically includes dancing, dinner and drinks, a raffle and silent and live auctions. It is an elegant evening enjoyed by parishioners, school parents, faculty, alumni and friends of St. Mary's.

St. Mary of Gostyn School has been educating children in Downers Grove for over 100 years. At St. Mary's, the parents and faculty work together every day to educate each student in a spirit of academic excellence, encourage creative and responsible behavior and uphold and teach respect for others. Our aim and desired result is to graduate students who are academically prepared to continue their education, Christian in attitude and outlook and ready to give service to the community. The Education Endowment fund enables us to continue to expand, upgrade and enhance St. Mary of Gostyn Catholic School in order to maintain the quality of education we have been able to offer for over 100 years.

The 12th Endowment Dinner Dance will take place on January 25, 2008. More information will be available as the school year begins. Contact the school for details about the event, donation and sponsorship opportunities, and more. Join us for this "fun" event.
