What
is TLC?
TLC stands for Tribute, Legacy, Challenge.
It is St. Mary of Gostyn's effort to honor our past
while building for our future. The TLC Campaign was
officially launched in January, 1999.
The
First Phase concentrated on renovations and improvements
to the School and Parish Center Buildings. This effort
was completed in September, 2000, with a Dedication
Liturgy and blessing of the newly-renovated buildings.
Improvements to the School included new school offices
and administration area, new reception and waiting area
(to be used by both school and Religious Education staff
and families), two new classrooms - a sixth grade classroom
and the "Carol McGovern" math classroom - updating of
the Faculty Lounge for additional use as an evening
meeting room, new mail room, and new Prairie Avenue
entrance and main hallway. The new classrooms are used
by both the School and the Religious Education programs.
Improvements
to the Parish Center included renovation of offices
for use by the Religious Education, Adult Faith Formation,
Youth Ministry and Preschool programs, as well as the
Parish Library. Additionally, several new meeting rooms
were created from existing space. The basement area,
known as the "Underground," was also renovated for use
by the Youth Ministry program as well as the After School
Care program.
The
Second Phase of the Tribute, Legacy, Challenge effort
- to repair, maintain and improve our Church - was launched
in late February, 2001. Expansion of the church building
by enclosing the columns on the west wall (Douglas Street),
and enclosing the sidewalk area between the Church and
Parish Center to creat a Narthex, are key parts of Church
plans.
