Commission The
purpose of the Service Commission is to develop organizations, projects and programs
that relate to the welfare of people and their social and human needs. Some of
these programs serve members of the parish. Others reach out to our neighbors
in our community. Ministry
of Care Parishioners are trained for this special ministry of distributing
the Eucharist to those who are home-bound, in nursing homes or in hospitals. St.
Vincent de Paul Society Ministry to those in need. In a confidential
manner, all members of the community who require help are provided food, housing,
and other necessities to maintain a dignified existence. The
Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 9:30 - 11:00 AM. Public
Action to Deliver Shelter (P.A.D.S.) Ecumenical program provides
shelter and hot meals to the homeless in our area. Volunteers host guests Friday
nights in the White Room from October through April. For

Appalachia
Outreach Pud's Builders - St. Mary's has adopted a struggling parish
in Whitley City, Ketucky. Food, clothing and gifts are sent to this parish. Parishioners
also travel there to help in the construction of church buildings and parishioner
home upgrades. Nazareth Farm - Teen program established in a West
Virginia location that combines a week-long retreat with service involving community

of Catholic Women (CCW) This organization is part of a diocesan network
whose objective is to give women of the parish an opportunity to advance spiritually
and to meet socially through a variety of programs and full range of committees.

Drive Welcome/Newcomers
Committee This
group welcomes new parishioners to our community through a twice yearly Newcomers
Welcome Potluck Dinner. Fellowship
Committee Fellowship gatherings are hosted by various parish groups
on the fourth Sunday of certain months in the White Room after the 8:30 and 10:15
a.m. masses. All parishioners are encouraged to share the bond of community and
conversation. "Something
New" Seniors' Ministry Social
group for "young" adults 55 years and older. Provides opportunities for growth
and community through social, educational and spiritual activities. Family
Crisis Fund Our Family Crisis Fund helps St. Mary's parishioners who
are in emergency need due to traumatic, life-changing events. This may include
serious illness, long-term job loss, divorce or domestic violence. Parish
Sunshine Group Support
group to provide meals to families in difficult situations, such as during an
illness or when there is a death in the family. St.
Joseph the Worker Employment Ministry Area
support group sponsored by a number of parishes in DuPage County, for anyone who
is unemployed. Volunteers help with resume writing, job search techniques, and
interviewing skills. Spouses are also invited.
