School - Why Choose St. Mary of Gostyn Catholic School?

Advanced Academics

St. Mary students graduate poised for academic success in high school and college. Credentialed teachers lead our classrooms through a rigorous blend of core subjects peppered with "specials” including Spanish, computers, art and music. Each school year builds upon the previous year's skill sets. Our faculty are lifelong learners through regularly scheduled professional development sessions.

Along with mastering academic subjects, strong organizational skills contribute toward student achievement in school. From the earliest grades, faculty members work closely with students to develop these essential skills.

Community

Just as it takes a village to raise a child, St. Mary calls upon its collective community of parish and school staff, faculty and parents to contribute to the success of our students. Our community works together to create a supportive and welcoming environment for students and families. Family events, parish activities and support networks are just a few of the ways for St. Mary families to bond together.

Faith Based

As a Catholic school, St. Mary of Gostyn School is rooted in our religious beliefs, proudly bestowing our love of Christ through daily prayers, religious lessons and Masses. The school gathers each Friday to celebrate Mass together. Each grade hosts Mass with students taking active roles in the liturgy. Religion becomes an accepted and integrated way of life for our students.

State-of-the-Art Technology

From individualized computer sessions to classroom-wide SmartBoards, technology is woven throughout the curriculum at St. Mary. Students from kindergarten through eighth grade incorporate technology as a valuable 21st century tool to learning. Students develop essential technology skills in regularly scheduled visits to the computer lab, where a full-time computer instructor assists children. The technology director oversees and develops a long-range technology plan to ensure that the school is wisely planning our future technology investments. And yet, we always remember that technology is a device that complements high-quality teaching.

Spirit of Service

St. Mary students are keenly aware of local and international needs, and they learn to serve others in response. Last year, St. Mary students participated in various service projects, including collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald houses, raising funds for Haiti, and organizing food and coat drives.
