Meet our Team at St. Mary of Gostyn School
Our administration and staff welcome you to visit or call with any questions. We look forward to sharing information with you about our school and the differences provided by a Catholic education. In addition, we are here to answer your questions to help you make an informed decision about your child's education.
My name is Christopher Tiritilli, and I am so very excited to be the new principal of St. Mary of Gostyn Catholic School. Professionally, I am also excited to continue my administrative career. I have many great experiences to draw on from my past two years as Principal of Holy Family Catholic School. Throughout my time in education, I have been able to confirm my belief that successful schools require strong leadership. I hope to provide that for SMG by empowering teachers and students in order to achieve success.
Prior to my administrative career, I was the 6-7th grade Social Studies, Reading & Religion teacher at St. Joseph School in Downers Grove. I began my career in education at O’Neill Middle School in Downers Grove, where I was a special education instructional assistant, as well as long-term substitute teacher and coach. Each of my teaching experiences has taught me many lessons and helped prepare me to lead SMG forward.
I believe in transformative leadership, which invites input from all stakeholder groups. Building strong relationships within our school and surrounding community is critical. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and sharing ideas as we work together to support our students.
I strongly believe in a safe school environment, positive school culture and clear communication. If you should have a concern or question regarding a policy, procedure, or situation, please contact your child’s teacher or me at the school office.
Assistant Principal Kalal has moved back into the Assistant Principal role at SMG. This is her 17th year on staff at SMG. She has served as middle school teacher and previously served SMG in the Assistant Principal role. Her extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of our school and community and of middle school education will be a huge asset to our administration.
Mrs. Kalal is an alum of SMG herself as well as all 4 of her children. She has a Bachelor's Degree from Concordia College (now Concordia University) in River Forest. Mrs. Kalal is looking forward to working with students and families to make this year academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally rewarding.
Mrs. Dianne Czopek has been St. Mary of Gostyn’s Administrative Assistant for 26 years and has been a member of St. Mary’s Parish for 38 years. Her 4 children attended and graduated from St. Mary’s. Three of them graduated from Benet Academy and one graduated from Montini Catholic High School. She lives with her husband Frank in Downers Grove. Mrs. Czopek has 8 grandchildren who are the joy of her life. Mrs. Czopek loves being part of St. Mary’s because she enjoys watching the students grow from little 3 year old preschoolers, to becoming young Catholic teens, going on to high school and getting ready to take on the world and making us proud.
"Catholic Education and being a vital part of St. Mary’s School are both very near and dear to my heart.”
Mrs. Mary Toth started at St. Mary of Gostyn in 1999 as a fourth grade teacher’s aide. She was an aide for ten years before joining Mrs. Czopek in the school office in 2009. Mary has three children who attended St. Mary of Gostyn from kindergarten through eighth grade and went on to high school and college. Her family has been parishioners for over twenty years.
