Spanish - Elementary - Grades 3-5
At St. Mary of Gostyn, students begin to learn Spanish in third grade. For one period once a week students grades 3-5 begin their introduction to the Spanish language with a focus on basic vocabulary and the Spanish culture. This basic understanding is the foundation for middle school Spanish classes.
During sixth grade, Spanish builds upon what students have learned in previous studies. They will learn dialogues, vocabulary and continue their study on Spanish culture.
By the time seventh grade students finish their year, they will have received the equivalent of a first semester of high school Spanish curriculum by expanding their vocabulary, beginning to understand grammar concepts through tests and completing dialogues.
Eighth grade Spanish will complete the freshman high school curriculum. They will focus on the second half of freshman Spanish and be well prepared for high school Spanish.
