Sacramental Preparation Grades 7 & 8
When Jesus had finished washing his disciple's feet, he put his garments back on and reclined at table, again he said to them, "do you realize what I have done for you? You call me teacher and master and rightly so, for indeed I am. If I therefore, the master and teacher have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that I have done for you, you should also do.”
Jesus has given us a model of how we should live our lives. He has told us to serve others. Our lives should be an example of humble servant love, all to build up the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. In light of this Gospel message, we will change how service is performed for grades 7 and 8.
Grades 7 and 8 service hours have beeb changed to service opportunities. I believe this will enhance our Confirmation prep program, and get closer to the true meaning of service.
Students are to complete 5 service opportunities:
Examples of parish type of ministries:
These are a few examples of what can be done in our parish, your own ideas are certainly welcome.
Examples of service outside the parish:
These are only a few examples, your own ideas are most welcome.
I hope to be posting ideas on the website throughout the summer and the school year. If you have an opportunity please let me know at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Once a project has been completed please submit the reflection sheet to your teacher/catechist, if you have done service over the summer just hold on to them until the new school year begins.
Please call the RE office 630-960- 3565 with any questions.
