Adult Faith - Welcome

On-going Faith Formation is both the responsibility and challenge for every adult Catholic. Once we leave the Catholic School Program or the Parish Religious Education Program, we as adults can let our Faith Formation cease. We lose an awareness of the issues that face us as a Church and the response to these issues by our Church.

Weekend Eucharistic celebrations with their homilies and Liturgy of the Word are the first and most powerful ways of continuing our Adult Faith Formation. As we listen to the readings explained in light of our daily lives in the presence of our parish brothers and sisters, we continue to see where our Church stands on so many important issues.  As we encounter Jesus in living presence in the Holy Eucharist, we are nourished and prepared to be sent out into our daily lives.

Interested in learning more about what we believe and how we practice our Catholic faith in the Sunday Liturgy?  Here's a dynamic and informative guide on the parts of the Mass: Draw Near, a video guide to the Catholic Mass.

In today's world of electronics and being "plugged in" it can be difficult to find moments of silence to reflect and find stillness.  On the other hand, electronics can also help us stay "plugged in" to our prayer and spiritual life.

Notre Dame's DAILY reading includes a short reflection and a final prayer:

In addition, at two of our entrances, there are Lighthouse Catholic Media displays filled with inspiring and educational CDs.  These portable CDs are great for commuters, family road trips, or just running errands in the car.

Parish missions and retreats are special times of prayer and reflection. We are able to take time and reflect where we are in our own personal faith journey. St. Mary of Gostyn also offers  Adult Faith Formation Programs on an on-going basis, opportunities for Bible study, small group prayers, rosary groups and other topics of interest. These are held in the mornings and evenings.

The Faith Formation process continues and enables us to respond to the presence of the Lord in our life as mature adults and enjoy the blessings of that relationship.

As you embark on your faith journey, keep in mind the opportunities that St. Mary of Gostyn has to offer.  See below for some programs, explore the Adult Faith tabs on our website.  If you have a suggestion for a program or would like to participate in a retreat, discussion group, please contact the Rectory, (630) 963-1063 or Kelly at

"Do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewal of your mind
(Romans 12:2a)

The Adult Faith Formation Programs answer the call from our parish survey on topics and workshops of interest to our adult faith community.
